Mark, Ruth and I (Lynne) all took part in the Shoreline Conversations training event organised by the executive of the Methodist Women in Britain York and Hull district earlier this week. Nine women and one (brave) man attended, and judging by their feedback comments at the end, thoroughly enjoyed and benefited from the two days. Lidgett Grove Methodist Church on the outskirts of York was a convenient and welcoming venue, with excellent facilities.
Mark and Ruth led us through a comprehensive training in facilitation skills for working with small groups, with particular application to the conversation packs we produce.
Appreciative comments from participants when asked what they had learned included:
‘how good it is to be listened to 1:1’
‘how little I’m aware of my own gifts and graces’
‘the framework or scaffolding or template for holding a group on track in spiritual conversation’
‘the session about resolving conflict made me think about how I would resolve tricky issues’
We hope that similar events can be planned within MWiB districts for the Autumn and Spring – be in touch if you would like to invite us.
